Introduction
A few months ago I was talking to my friend Sasha about the get-rich-quick schemes and unqualified claims circulating around the fashion industry.
So, instead of complaining about the state of play, we decided to embark on Podcasting. It was a large learning curve in turn of getting the recording process right. How to edit and learned as we went along. We have no budget for external help which in a way is a metaphor for how so many businesses have to start. There will be mistakes along the way and you will have to do the best you can with few resources.
We have had some very encouraging feedback and there is a wealth of subjects to cover.
First Season
The beauty of podcasts is that it is often easier to listen to ideas while on the go. Making time to read a long blog post can be inconvenient and not for everyone. So in the spirit of sticking to the spoken word, here are the links to season 1. It might be that only one topic is of interest and that is perfectly fine. The aim of the podcast is to cover a variety of subjects, in the knowledge that many brands are at a variety of stages.
Episode 1 - intro to Sasha and I and an overview of working in the industry and tips for building a business and a career (which doesn't just apply to fashion:))
Episode 2 - The Joys of Manufacturing. What you need to consider when working with a manufacturer.
Episode 3 - Influencer marketing - should you work with them and how to manage the relationship? What are the issues with influencers etc.
Episode 4 - Much a do about Sustainability - our take on greenwashing and what brands can practically do and this conversation is very relevant to consumers to get access to more information on what you can do to help.
Episode 5 - Getting your website right - this is part of 2-parter on Direct to consumer strategy.
Episode 6 - Part 2 on direct-to-customer - how to grow a loyal following and convert consumers.
Episode 7 - Wholesaling - As Saha is a buyer with over 18 years of experience she has a wealth of tips and considerations about moving your brand towards wholesaling.
So, do dive in a give them a listen. Any follow-up questions we would be delighted to answer in future podcasts. Contact me on darryl@darrylbannon.com. Plus any subjects you would like to hear a deeper dive on, or something completely new.
Season 2 is underway for recording. We will be covering pricing and a host of other topics.
